Our Approach
Our Calgary clinic works at your pace. You're always in control of the session — we explain everything before we do it and can stop or adjust at any time.
1. Benefits
Acupuncture and massage therapy may help by:
- Calming the Nervous System: Treatment may help shift the body out of fight-or-flight and into rest.
- Supporting Sleep: Many clients notice improved sleep with regular sessions.
- Easing Physical Tension: Gentle needling and massage release the tension the body holds onto.
2. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Perspective
In TCM, trauma and shock are seen to disturb the Heart and the mind (Shen), and to affect the Kidney and Liver systems.
- Disturbed Shen: Anxiety, poor sleep and being easily startled reflect an unsettled mind.
- Restoring Balance: Treatment focuses on calming the Shen, grounding the body and smoothing the flow of Qi.
During Your Treatment
Sessions are quiet and gentle. We often use ear (auricular) acupuncture, which many people find very calming, and you can stay fully clothed if you prefer.
Treatments at our Calgary clinic may incorporate:
- Acupuncture & Electro-Acupuncture
- Ear (Auricular) Acupuncture
- Relaxation & Therapeutic Massage Therapy
- Cupping & Gua Sha
- TCM Lifestyle Guidance
Frequently Asked Questions
Is acupuncture safe for PTSD?
Yes. Acupuncture is gentle, and ear acupuncture protocols are used in many trauma and addiction programs. It works best alongside counselling or therapy.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. You're welcome to bring a support person to your appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone responds differently. Many clients start with weekly sessions for several weeks, then space them out as things improve. Your practitioner will recommend a plan after your initial assessment.
Should I keep seeing my counsellor or doctor?
Yes. Acupuncture supports mental health care but does not replace it. If you are in crisis, please call 9-8-8 or go to your nearest emergency department.
Acupuncture and massage therapy are complementary therapies and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a physician. Results vary from person to person. Please continue any care prescribed by your medical provider.
