Our Approach

Our Calgary clinic tracks your cycle and symptoms over time and times treatment to the phase of your cycle, pregnancy or recovery — so every session has a clear purpose.

1. Benefits

Acupuncture and massage therapy may support women's health by:

  • Easing Period Pain: Research suggests acupuncture may help reduce menstrual pain for some people.
  • Supporting Fertility Care: Many people use acupuncture to reduce stress and support their body during fertility treatment, alongside their fertility clinic.
  • Calming the Nervous System: Stress affects hormones; treatments help the body shift into rest.
  • Comfort in Pregnancy: Acupuncture may help with pregnancy nausea, back pain and sleep when performed by a trained practitioner.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Perspective

In TCM, women's health depends on the smooth flow of Qi and Blood and the strength of the Kidney, Liver and Spleen systems.

  • Liver Qi Stagnation: Stress, irritability, cramping and breast tenderness.
  • Blood Deficiency: Fatigue, light or late periods and difficulty conceiving.
  • Kidney Deficiency: Low back ache, low energy and hormonal changes with age.
  • Restoring Balance: Treatment is matched to your pattern and the stage you're in — regulating the cycle, nourishing Blood and supporting the body's reserves.

During Your Treatment

Sessions are calm and relaxing. Points are often placed on the abdomen, lower legs, hands and ears. Your practitioner will always adjust point choices if you are pregnant or in an active fertility cycle.

Treatments at our Calgary clinic may incorporate:

  • Acupuncture & Electro-Acupuncture
  • Moxibustion
  • Relaxation & Therapeutic Massage Therapy
  • Cupping & Gua Sha
  • TCM Diet & Lifestyle Guidance

Frequently Asked Questions

Can acupuncture help with fertility?

Many people use acupuncture to support their body and manage stress while trying to conceive or during IVF / IUI. Research results are mixed, so we see it as a supportive addition to your fertility care, not a replacement for it.

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

Yes, when performed by a trained practitioner who knows you're pregnant. Certain points are avoided during pregnancy. Please tell us if you are pregnant or could be.

When should I start acupuncture for fertility?

Ideally around three months before trying to conceive or starting an IVF cycle, since that's roughly how long an egg takes to mature. We can still help if you're starting sooner.

Can I come in after giving birth?

Yes. Postpartum treatment can support recovery, sleep, energy and mood. Many people start a few weeks after birth — you're welcome to bring your baby.

Should I keep seeing my doctor?

Yes. Acupuncture works alongside medical care, not in place of it. Please keep your physician informed and continue any treatment they have prescribed.

Acupuncture and massage therapy are complementary therapies and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a physician. Results vary from person to person. Please continue any care prescribed by your medical provider.
